Advancing FAIR Policies and Practices in Tunisia (Faire Evoluer les Politiques et Pratiques FAIR en Tunisie)

The aim of this event is to promote the ongoing work being carried out by CNUDST to advance FAIR policies and practices in Tunisia. The event will also provide an introduction to the FAIR-IMPACT project to the research community in Tunisia.

Assessing national current FAIR-enabling capabilities

700 research organisations, funders, assessment authorities, professional societies, and their associations have agreed on a common direction and principles for reforming the assessment of research, researchers and research organisations, outlined in the Agreement on Reforming Research Assessment. They are also committed to implementing changes within their organisations.

The Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment, CoARA, offers a platform for collaboration and mutual learning. However, given the complex substance of the reform process, providing support for institutions to test, design, and carry out in-depth institutional changes is also of paramount importance to implement the Agreement commitments.

This two-hour workshop will focus on the topic of research assessment to help the selected candidates to draft their FAIR implementation action plan by taking into account the research assessment aspect.

Digital Object Identifier DOI and its national support in the Czech Republic

This course is held in the Czech language.

The persistent identifier DOI (digital object identifier) is used in science communication to permanently and unambiguously identify objects such as scientific articles or research data sets. The training will explain what this identifier can be used for, how its assignment works, and possible alternatives. The training will also present the existing support for implementing DOIs at the national level in the Czech R&D and innovation environment within the CARDS project. Finally, participants will learn how the DOI will be used in the National Repository, a document repository launched in 2025.

Engaging researchers with FAIR-ness

The aim of this workshop was to introduce methods for supporting the engagement of research communities in the FAIR data movement, both as data producers and users. The focus is on the importance of national level initiatives and policies. Drawing from a span of different experiences, including the EOSC 'Researcher Engagement & Adoption Task Force (REA TF), the workshop shared insights on engaging research communities. The challenges at both EOSC and the national level are similar, requiring the engagement of diverse stakeholders from various scientific communities with distinct approaches to research data. The workshop includes discussions on potential methodologies that can be implemented to effectively communicate with a wide-ranging community and activity involve them in the dynamic of FAIR data.

FAIR-EASE Open Day on Open Science for Earth Systems

Earth system domains are interconnected, but the present digital architecture is based essentially on distributed and domain-dependent data repositories inducing real difficulties for integrated uses of all the environmental data. This creates barriers for several studies with large societal impacts, such as climate change, agriculture and food, human safety and health.

To go beyond this state-of-the-art, the overall objective of FAIR-EASE is to customize and operate distributed and integrated services for observation and modelling of the Earth system, environment and biodiversity by improving their different components implemented in close cooperation with user-communities, the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) and research infrastructures.

FAIR Implementation Profile – an Effective Way towards FAIR Community Standards

In this workshop, we will present one of the most significant developments in the field of methods and tools for the optimal implementation of the FAIR Principles - FAIR Implementation Profile (FIP), which is a methodology developed within the GO FAIR initiative through which the scientific and research communities have the opportunity to express their choices of standards, technologies, tools and procedures by which they fulfil the FAIR principles. The methodology and related tools are planned to be used in the OS I and OS II projects.
