Long Live Research Data – National EOSC CZ Conference 2025

Information, records, and presentations from a two-day conference held in Ostrava. The first day of the conference was organised around three thematic sessions: Tools for Data Management, Stories of Data (Re-)Use, and Advancing Data Skills. The training sessions on the second day were designed for Repo Builders, for whom experts presented available tools and services. A parallel workshop track targeted Young Researchers, guiding them through the fundamentals of research data management within a single day.

Module 1 - Open Science

Open Science is a way of conducting research whereby the methods, data, and/or publications of a research project are opened up by researchers via digital technology for public scrutiny and use. This webinar will introduce the what, how, and why of Open Science. We will look at how broad or narrow the concept of Open Science can be defined, what the spectrum of Open Science practices is that researchers can engage with, and what potential motivations and barriers might make it easier or harder for researchers to actually practise Open Science.

Join us for the final webinar of the series focusing on open access and open science. At this webinar, on the last day of Open Access Week 2021, we will be joined by four speakers from across EMBL who have knowledge and experience of being ‘open’, from software to data resources and open access publications.
During this panel webinar, we will discuss:

Are there disadvantages of sharing data?

Open access: publications and preprints

Continuing our series on open access, in this webinar we will discuss the role of EMBL in making science open. We will introduce Europe PMC - an open, free database of life science publications and preprints and explain how Europe PMC supports open access policies of many organisations, including EMBL. We will highlight how open access underpins innovation and the importance of licensing for reuse. Then, we will illustrate how open access to publications supports scientific reproducibility and the role that proper data citation plays in this process. Finally, we will look at preprints, as a tool for researchers to rapidly and openly share their work decoupled from the formal peer review process.

Open Science II Conference

The kick-off conference of the Open Science II project will focus on research data, repository creation, and the transfer of information and experience not only among project participants, but also within the wider EOSC CZ community and the broader professional public. The main goal is to inform participants about the partial outputs of the Open Science II project and to offer opportunities to exchange experiences and obtain practical information for creating repositories within the project.
