EOSC CZ Networking

Meetings organised within EOSC CZ bring together researchers, data stewards, and institutional representatives from across the Czech Republic. They create space for sharing experiences, building new collaborations, and promoting good practices in research data management.

Benefits of the meetings

Introduction to the EOSC CZ initiative

As part of the networking meetings, participants are introduced to the EOSC CZ initiative and its implementation within the Czech research environment. They gain insight into the activities and outputs of EOSC CZ projects that the academic community can already use or will be able to use in the future. These include, for example:

repositories being developed for storing and sharing research data, services and tools built on top of these repositories,
services and tools built on top of these repositories,
training activities and educational programmes focused on research data management and Open Science principles.

Building collaboration and sharing experience

EOSC CZ Networking creates space for discussion among representatives of universities, researchers, data stewards, Open Science coordinators, and library and grant office staff.
Participants can compare approaches to research data management and the implementation of Open Science principles across institutions.
Sharing these experiences contributes to the development of Open Science and helps disseminate best practices across the Czech research environment.

Upcoming meetings

9 November 2026 Networking

Networking Jihlava

The next EOSC CZ Networking event will take place at the College of Polytechnics Jihlava (VŠPJ). The event will focus on sharing information about the services and support that the EOSC CZ initiative offers to the research community. It will also introduce the data stewards at VŠPJ and provide space for discussion with local stakeholders.

“The biggest challenge is not implementing tools, but changing the way people think,” says Kristýna Zychová

Kristýna Zychová coordinates open science at CZU Prague and is also involved in national initiatives at Technology Centre Prague. This year, she co-organised the Prague EOSC CZ Networking event — an initiative intentionally focused on practical workshops that also attracted researchers who do not usually attend similar events. In the interview, she discusses why implementing open science is primarily about people, how CZU is building a support network across faculties, and why Czech science is facing a crucial systemic decision.

Infrastructure Is Not Enough. Open Science Requires a Cultural Change

How can artificial intelligence help scientists make better use of precious synchrotron beamtime? And why are metadata, databases, and FAIR principles becoming increasingly important in modern materials research? In this interview with Ridha Eddhib, a researcher from the New Technologies – Research Center at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, we discuss machine learning, photoemission spectroscopy, 2D materials, and the growing importance of research data management in physics.

EOSC CZ Networking Events Continue: Prague and Pilsen Connect the Research Data Community

EOSC CZ Networking events continued this spring with two more meetings, highlighting the gradual growth of the research data management community in the Czech Republic. The March event at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague and the April follow-up at the University of West Bohemia combined a strong focus on practical work with data, sharing experience, and building concrete collaborations across institutions.
