Shaping the EOSC Federation: Building Nodes for Open Science

On November 18–19, 2024, the ESFRI-EOSC Task Force hosted a workshop at the University of Milan titled "Prototyping the EOSC Federation: Nodes and Linkages," focusing on shaping the EOSC Federation as a digital ecosystem. The workshop attracted representatives of research infrastructures listed on the ESFRI Roadmap, exploring their potential role as thematic nodes in the federation.

The National Conference Highlighted Milestones and Challenges on the Path to Effective Research Data Management

The National EOSC CZ Conference, titled “From Storage to Repositories”, attracted over 200 participants – 113 onsite and nearly 100 online. The strong interest in the event confirmed the growing importance of research data management, open science, and the development of national and international data infrastructures.

On 7 November 2024, the 6th European Tripartite Event on EOSC Management and Implementation was held in Budapest. The main topics were potential candidates for EOSC nodes, the EOSC Federation's status and EOSC governance's future after 2027.

Experts on Open Science Gathered in Bratislava

On Thursday 14 November, the second edition of the Slovak Open Science Forum took place in Bratislava, focusing on open access, research data management, evaluation of scientific activities and citizen science. Among others, Matej Antol, the principal manager of the IPs EOSC-CZ, presented the EOSC CZ initiative and its contribution to Czech research and its link with European science.

EOSC Symposium 2024 in Berlin: Towards the European Scientific Cloud Infrastructure

On 21-23 October, the EOSC Symposium 2024 took place in Berlin, attracting over 450 in-person participants and more than 900 online from over 60 countries. The event provided an opportunity to discuss the future of EOSC. It kicked off with the launch of the first EOSC EU Node, the key to connecting European data services and infrastructure.

Reflecting on Open Science Week 2024: Fostering Open Science and Data Stewardship in the Czech Republic

On 21-23 October 2024, Open Science Week under the auspices of the Open Science Working Group of the Association of University Libraries (AKVŠ), took place in an online meeting format. The three-day programme featured a series of lectures and discussions on the development of open science, data stewardship and practical tools to help researchers in their daily practice.
