EU high-level conference on reforming research assessment

The conference will address the urgent need to redesign evaluation systems so that they align with broader goals: fostering open science, enhancing societal relevance, encouraging collaboration and interdisciplinarity, valuing diverse research outputs (beyond journal articles), and promoting responsible, inclusive research cultures.

Trust in Science Conference

Science Europe and the French National Research Agency (ANR) are organising a conference on 11 December 2025 at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France in Paris to address how research organisations can strengthen public trust in science and research. The event will bring together policymakers, researchers, and communication experts to discuss the factors undermining confidence in science, the role of media and public engagement, and ways to improve transparency and understanding of the scientific process. The conference aims to develop concrete recommendations to enhance trust between science and society.

Workshop Data Management for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at IT4Innovations

On 10 December, a specialized workshop titled “Data management for artificial intelligence and machine learning from the perspective of the computing environment and user requirements” was held at IT4Innovations in Ostrava. On November 28, Tomas Bata University in Zlín hosted an EOSC CZ networking event focused on advancing open science and implementing FAIR principles. The event took place in the unique university library designed by renowned architect Eva Jiřičná, highlighting the importance of innovation and collaboration in science.

Shaping the EOSC Federation: Building Nodes for Open Science

On November 18–19, 2024, the ESFRI-EOSC Task Force hosted a workshop at the University of Milan titled "Prototyping the EOSC Federation: Nodes and Linkages," focusing on shaping the EOSC Federation as a digital ecosystem. The workshop attracted representatives of research infrastructures listed on the ESFRI Roadmap, exploring their potential role as thematic nodes in the federation.

The National Conference Highlighted Milestones and Challenges on the Path to Effective Research Data Management

The National EOSC CZ Conference, titled “From Storage to Repositories”, attracted over 200 participants – 113 onsite and nearly 100 online. The strong interest in the event confirmed the growing importance of research data management, open science, and the development of national and international data infrastructures.

The 6th European Tripartite Event in Budapest: Discussions on EOSC Federation and Node Development

On 7 November 2024, the 6th European Tripartite Event on EOSC Management and Implementation was held in Budapest. The main topics were potential candidates for EOSC nodes, the EOSC Federation's status and EOSC governance's future after 2027.

Experts on Open Science Gathered in Bratislava

On Thursday 14 November, the second edition of the Slovak Open Science Forum took place in Bratislava, focusing on open access, research data management, evaluation of scientific activities and citizen science. Among others, Matej Antol, the principal manager of the IPs EOSC-CZ, presented the EOSC CZ initiative and its contribution to Czech research and its link with European science.

EOSC Symposium 2024 in Berlin: Towards the European Scientific Cloud Infrastructure

On 21-23 October, the EOSC Symposium 2024 took place in Berlin, attracting over 450 in-person participants and more than 900 online from over 60 countries. The event provided an opportunity to discuss the future of EOSC. It kicked off with the launch of the first EOSC EU Node, the key to connecting European data services and infrastructure.
