9:00–9:40 The Process of Creating a New Repository

A comprehensive overview of the entire process of building a repository from the moment of creating a repository in the NRP environment is considered to supporting a production repository. You will learn about available methodological support and good practice. We will go through the overview of the process together step by step and leave room for questions.

Tutor: Illyria Brejchová

9:40–10:10 Core NRP Repository Systems

The session will present the core repository systems of the National Repository Platform (NRP) – CESNET Invenio, CLARIN DSpace and ASEP/ARL. It will focus on their main characteristics, functionalities, customizability, extensibility, and integration with other NRP tools.

Tutors: Illyria Brejchová | Milan Janíček | Eliška Blažková

10:10–10:30 Legal and Licensing Aspects of Repositories

This session will describe the legal framework for establishing and operating repositories in the NRP, review key points of the basic documents outlining the rules for repositories in the NRP environment, cover key roles in repositories (founder, administrator, curator), their responsibilities, and relationships to the NRP operator, and touch on deposit and user licenses.

Tutor: Daniel Mikšík

10:30–11:00 Coffee Break

BLOCK 1: My Data – Basic Data Stewardship

9:00–9:45 FAIR on the First Try

We will show the current common requirements for working with data in research projects according to FAIR principles, and in particular, we will focus on how to meet them in practice. Step by step, we will go through the individual phases of the life cycle of a research project/research data. We will demonstrate how to fill all the items on the work checklist, from planning the research, collecting and processing the data, to the longer-term preservation and sharing.

Tutor: Michal Růžička

9:45–10:30 Persistent Identifiers – Why and How

Introduction to Persistent Identifiers for early-career researchers. The presentation will introduce the most widely used persistent identifiers, explain their purpose, and demonstrate how to use them effectively.

Tutor: Hana Heringová

10:30–11:00 Coffee Break

BLOCK 2: Services and Tools for Repositories

11:00–11:40 UX, Testing, and Metrics

The session will focus on user experience, testing, metrics and their value for NRP repositories. Approaches and tools that help create repositories that are not only functional and reliable, but also clear and visually attractive will be presented. Participants will learn about methods of design, user testing, feedback collection and usability evaluation. The session will offer inspiration on how to make a repository a user-friendly tool.

Tutors: Illyria Brejchová | Pavlína Špringerová | Veronika Němcová | Karolína Menclerová

11:40–12:00 FAIR Principles in NRP Repositories

Repositories already offer a wide range of mechanisms and tools that support researchers in publishing their data in alignment with the FAIR principles. In this session, we’ll explore specific use cases and implemented solutions, highlighting how these approaches enhance the overall quality and functionality of services within the broader research data ecosystem.

Tutor: Milan Janíček

12:00–12:15 AAI and the Service Support System

How does unified authentication and authorization work in NRP and what is it good for? Setting up a service desk, the responsibility of the repository administrator to provide support and explain how they can fulfil it.

Tutor: Eliška Blažková

12:15–12:30 Repository System Specialists Q&A

Q&A Session Participants:

Illyria Brejchová | Milan Janíček | Lucie Hošková | Eliška Blažková | Daniel Mikšík

12:30–13:30 Lunch

BLOCK 2: My Data – Management and Storage

11:00–11:30 How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the DMP

Are you a doctoral student or a recent post-doc who has just heard the term 'Data Management Plan' (DMP) for the first time? If you answered 'yes', then this session is for you! It will briefly introduce the benefits of 'data management planning', discuss what a completed Data Management Plan should look like, and showcase Data Stewardship Wizard as a tool for creating DMPs. Overall, the session will show that a well-written DMP helps you better manage your data.

Tutor: Antonín Zita

11:30–12:00 Where to with it? Deciding where to publish data

Do you have research data? And do you know where to publish and/or archive them? Maybe in the repository-thing, which you hear so much about lately? But what is the repository, what is it good for and how to choose the right one? That is the question (that we will deal with on this workshop).

Tutor: Jan Vališ

12:00–13:00 Lunch

BLOCK 3: Metadata I

13:30–13:50 Czech Core Metadata Model

What are the changes in new version of Czech Core Conceptual Model and what is their impact on technical implementation in XML. A brief introduction to the Czech Core Metadata Model (CCMM) is followed by news in version 1.1.0 and update on progress in crosswalk between CCMM and other metadata schemas – specifically DataCite and OpenAIRE.

Tutor: Michal Med

13:50–14:35 Selecting a Domain Specific Metadata Model

The session will introduce practical approaches to selecting or designing a domain-specific metadata model and mapping it to the Czech Core Metadata Model (CCMM). The speakers will discuss how to identify and evaluate existing standards and repositories, what to consider when the available models are not expressed in RDF. Several implementation pathways will be explored — from extending CCMM to adopting a domain-specific standard or developing a custom metadata model. The session will also touch upon practical questions related to using Dataspecer as a tool for metadata modelling.

Tutors: Petra Černohlávková | Pavel Kotlík | Jakub Klímek

14:35–15:00 National Metadata Directory

Presentation of the National Metadata Directory in the context of the Open Science Repository Platform and its links to other systems, especially the processes of harvesting metadata from subject repositories. The practical part will focus on the OAI-PMH protocol and testing its basic functions. In addition to the example of obtaining metadata from the repository, the specifics of implementing OAI-PMH points with support for the CCMM model will be discussed in general.

Tutor: Michal Klodner

15:00–15:30 Coffee Break

BLOCK 3: My Data - Processing and Analysis

13:00–14:30 AI in Data Management

The workshop will focus on the use of large language models (LLMs) and related services for working with data — from simple visualizations to advanced analytical methods. It will also cover the topic of generating synthetic datasets. In addition to standard chatbots such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude, specialized tools like Julius AI will be introduced. These tools can significantly speed up and simplify data work without requiring in-depth programming knowledge. The practical format of the workshop will allow participants to try everything out through concrete examples.
