11 Nov EOSC Symposium 2025: Another Milestone for the EOSC Federation In early November, Brussels hosted the EOSC Symposium 2025, one of Europe’s key annual events dedicated to the future of open science and research data management.
11 Nov Open calls to grow the EOSC Federation Three new European open calls have been launched to support the growth of the EOSC Federation and the integration of new nodes and services into Europe’s open science infrastructure. The calls differ in their focus and type of support — from the enrolment of new EOSC Nodes to preparatory grants and projects expanding the range of services within existing nodes. The deadline for all three calls is 18 February 2026. Interested applicants can join a series of informative webinars 13, 18 and 20 November 2025, which will explain the details of the calls and provide guidance for the application process.
24 Oct ESFRI Shapes the Future of European Research Infrastructures and Strengthens Links with EOSC The European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI) met in Copenhagen in October to discuss the preparation of the new ESFRI Roadmap 2026 and the role of research infrastructures in the emerging European strategy for technological development. Delegates agreed that research infrastructures are key providers of high-quality services and data — and an essential driver of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).
24 Oct New Educational Portal of the EOSC EU Node In September, the EOSC EU Node announced the launch of its new Learning Center on OpenPlato. The platform currently offers training materials designed to help researchers understand and make better use of the EOSC EU Node — an online portal providing access to digital resources, tools, and services that support research and collaboration across Europe in line with the principles of Open Science and FAIR data.
22 Oct EOSC United: The path towards a unified EOSC Federation and the Czech contribution to the project In September 2025, Brno hosted the official kick-off of the EOSC United and EOSC Gravity projects. The joint launch brought together representatives of European institutions and national initiatives focused on research data and open science. Among the participants were Bob Jones, the project coordinator, and Luděk Matyska from the EOSC CZ Initiative, whom we asked about the EOSC United project's direction and the EOSC Federation's future.

Representatives of Masaryk University Among Experts at the International EHDS Meeting At the international meeting TEHDAS2 – Health Data Policy into Practice, held on 9 October 2025, Zdenka Dudová, lead of the Sensitive Data working group within the EOSC CZ initiative, represented the Czech community. She is involved in preparing methodological guidelines and technical specifications for the implementation of the European Health Data Space (EHDS).
14 Oct EOSC CZ Networking in Silesia: One Region, Three Universities, Shared Challenges On 7 October 2025, the EOSC CZ initiative organised a regional networking meeting at the VSB – Technical University of Ostrava (VSB-TUO), bringing together representatives from three Silesian universities – the Silesian University in Opava (SU), the University of Ostrava (OU), and VSB-TUO.
13 Oct Meeting of Data Stewards in Prague: Community, Empathy and European Collaboration On Thursday, 25 September 2025, nearly 80 experts in research data management – data stewards – gathered at the National Technical Library in Prague. The event, co-organised by the EOSC CZ initiative, provided a space for sharing experiences, networking, exchanging best practices, and hearing inspiring presentations from colleagues from Poland and Germany.

16 Sep Call for Candidates for three Directors of the EOSC Association A call for candidates for three Director positions is hereby launched for the 2025 elections, which will take place during the 12th General Assembly of the EOSC Association (GA#12). GA#12 is an online meeting to be held on the afternoon of 10 December 2025, and elections will take place via an online voting procedure.
