Nordic webinar series: Policy and practice in the development of open science (Finland)

Representatives from Norway (21/11), Denmark (1/12) and Finland (19/1) will present cases, anecdotes, and policies, both in effect and in the making, in each of their respective countries. Each 1,5-hour webinar will address research data management from 3 perspectives.

Introduction to FAIR data

This course is held in the Czech language.

In this talk, we will introduce the research data lifecycle in the broader context of Open Science and the contemporary requirements of research funders for working with data. We will also present the FAIR principles and the implementation tools, including persistent identifiers. Finally, we will demonstrate data storage and sharing possibilities in academic institutions and the Czech e-infrastructure.

FAIR Implementation Profile – an Effective Way towards FAIR Community Standards

In this workshop, we will present one of the most significant developments in the field of methods and tools for the optimal implementation of the FAIR Principles - FAIR Implementation Profile (FIP), which is a methodology developed within the GO FAIR initiative through which the scientific and research communities have the opportunity to express their choices of standards, technologies, tools and procedures by which they fulfil the FAIR principles. The methodology and related tools are planned to be used in the OS I and OS II projects.

Piloting the "Data Stewardship" course for PhD students

The course focuses on the section of the institutional agenda that deals with the issue of transferable skills in doctoral education. The aim of the lectures in the course is to transfer to the participants, mainly from universities, the experience of piloting the course "DocEnhance Data Stewardship" focused on research data management into the curriculum of doctoral studies at the University of Chemistry and Technology Prague and the Faculty of Science of Charles University. The course "DocEnhance Data Stewardship" is adapted to the needs of beginning PhD students and combines theoretical content with practical exercises and possible intersectoral collaboration. It guides doctoral students through all steps of research data management, from finding relevant data to publishing a dataset. It is a convenient course to improve awareness of Open Science, FAIR, and RDM, thereby supporting the improvement of research integrity early in a research career.

Systems for the National Repository Platform (NRP)

This course is held in the Czech language.

In the first part, the seminar aims to explain what a repository is and how it works, why data should be stored in a repository, how to fill in metadata, licensing information, versioning, citations, and more. We will also introduce the systems that will form the core implementations of NRP: CLARIN-DSpace, ASEP-ARL, and CESNET-Invenio. Before the final discussion, we will present the overall architecture and development plans of the NRP.
