Assessing national current FAIR-enabling capabilities

14 May 2024 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM

The "FAIR Implementation Workshop - Assessing national current FAIR-enabling capabilities" will take place on 14 May 2024 14:00-16:00 CEST. Confirm your registration below. Note: Registration for the workshop is free but mandatory. The Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA) is a group of organisations who work on harmonising the assessment of research. It takes into account practices and activities that maximise the quality and impact of research. It involves basing assessment primarily on qualitative judgment, for which peer review is central, supported by responsible use of quantitative indicators. This two-hour workshop will focus on the topic of research assessment to help the selected candidates to draft their FAIR implementation action plan by taking into account the research assessment aspect.

RDA’s 22nd Plenary Meeting

14 – 23 May 2024

The Research Data Alliance’s 22nd Plenary meeting (VP22) is now confirmed and will take place as a fully virtual event. Organised by the RDA Secretariat, VP22 will be held for half-days spread across two weeks, between 14-23 May 2024. ECS Cluster Event

25 Apr 2024 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM

A common thread that runs through almost all citizen science initiatives is their collection and generation of data. With the expanding scope of these initiatives, we are seeing an unprecedented increase in data. This data, when transformed into knowledge, is invaluable not only for deepening our understanding of scientific and social phenomena but also for its crucial role in informing evidence-based policy-making. The transition from raw data to knowledge, however, is dependent on several factors. Key among these is the application of good data practices and the establishment of comprehensive data infrastructures. Moreover, for the citizen science community, embracing the principles of open science, open data and adhering to the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) standards and CARE principles are crucial steps, among other strategic approaches, to fully capitalise on citizen-generated data.

Practical licensing issues

24 Apr 2024 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

This course is held in the Czech language. During the talk, we will discuss the different types of licenses, including public licenses such as Creative Commons, open-source software licenses such as the GNU GPL and MIT, and database licensing. We will also discuss practical approaches to licensing, choosing the proper license, and situations in which licensing should be avoided, both from the perspective of the licensor and the licensee.

Data Week 2024

15 – 19 Apr 2024

Data Week Leipzig is the networking and exchange event for highlighting scientific, economic, and social perspectives of data and its use, where industry, citizens, science, and public authorities can enter into dialogue. The event welcomes attendees to Leipzig to learn and share experiences about the concepts of data-spaces, urban platforms, and other technical solutions that follow the FAIR principles of ensuring that data remains Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable. Days dedicated to the topics of semantics and artificial intelligence will give insights into how these technologies can help achieve a sustainable and resilient future.
