as the year draws to a close, we would like to thank you for your support and cooperation throughout 2024. Together we have made significant progress in connecting czech science to the European Open Science Cloud and in fostering innovation across the research community.

EOSC CZ Networking Connected Research Communities Across the Czech Republic

Building and connecting expert communities is one of the core activities of the EOSC CZ initiative. Alongside the development of infrastructure and services, strong emphasis is placed on the people who use these tools in practice and help move them forward. For this reason, a series of thematic networking events was organised throughout the past year, bringing together researchers, data stewards, institutional leadership and professionals engaged in Open Science and research data management.

EOSC CZ in 2025: How the Perspective on Research Data Changed Over the Past Year

The year 2025 was not a calm period for science or society. Geopolitical developments, the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence, and increasing pressure to ensure the efficient use of public funding have fundamentally reshaped the way research and its outcomes are perceived. Questions of scientific responsibility toward society have come to the forefront, together with the crucial role of research data.

Preparations for the new generation platform are nearing completion. The project will significantly improve the availability of information for academics and researchers.

After three years of intensive preparation, the CARDs (Czech Academic and Research Discovery System) project is entering its final phase, which will result in the introduction of a new joint library platform. More than 30 universities and research organizations across the Czech Republic, led by the National Technical Library, are involved in the collaboration. The project will open up modern, efficient, and interconnected access to information, which will facilitate the daily work of researchers, teachers, and students.
