April Belongs to Citizen Science. People Help Solve Problems Scientists Have Been Tackling for Years

April is celebrated worldwide as Citizen Science Month — a time highlighting activity in which members of the public contribute to both data collection and analysis. Globally, tens of millions of people are involved; in the Czech Republic, participation reaches hundreds of thousands each year. Anyone can take part in Citizen Science Month: all it takes is a smartphone, a computer, and the willingness to contribute to research whose results end up in scientific publications and international databases — and in some cases significantly accelerate the pace of discovery.

Data stewards met in Brno: Sharing experience, tools, and inspiration

On 26 March, the fifth meeting of the Czech data steward community took place at Masaryk University in Brno. Alongside a rich professional program, the event also created space for sharing experiences and mutual inspiration. The meeting once again confirmed that research data management is not only about tools and methodologies, but above all about people – and that this community is playing an increasingly important role in shaping its development in the Czech Republic.
