How has data storage evolved over time? What can photographs reveal about us? And how can each of us contribute to real scientific research? This year, you can discover EOSC CZ activities at Researchers’ Night in two cities – Brno and Ostrava.
At the Faculty of Informatics of Masaryk University, the Open Science and CERIT-SC teams will introduce data from the ground up. Visitors will discover how the form and volume of data have changed over time, how much information could fit on a floppy disk and what metadata are.
Interactive activities will also focus on the secure storage and sharing of data. A practical demonstration of AI-assisted programming will show how a simple text prompt can be used to create a basic web application or game.
The programme will also feature the citizen science projects Language Memory of the Regions, Brno Emotional Map and WayDesign.

Visitors will also encounter citizen science at the IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center in Ostrava. The EOSC – The Richness of Nature exhibition will demonstrate how members of the public can help scientists collect and process information and contribute to new discoveries, regardless of their education or profession.
A visit to IT4Innovations will also offer a glimpse behind the scenes of the Czech Republic’s most powerful supercomputers, an opportunity to see the first Czech quantum computer and a chance to meet experts in artificial intelligence.

The EOSC Association has opened a call for experts to join five Task Forces for the 2027–2028 period. The new Task Forces will focus on FAIR Data and AI, Health Data, Long-Term Data Retention and Reusability, Quality, Trust, and Sovereignty of Data, and Semantic Interoperability. Applications can be submitted until 30 September 2026 at 23:59. The new Task Forces will officially begin their activities in January 2027.
The EOSC Association has launched a call for nominations for three positions on its Board of Directors for the 2027–2029 term. The new members will be elected during the 15th EOSC Association General Assembly on 27 November 2026. Interested candidates can submit their nominations until 23 October 2026.
