How has data storage evolved over time? What can photographs reveal about us? And how can each of us contribute to real scientific research? This year, you can discover EOSC CZ activities at Researchers’ Night in two cities – Brno and Ostrava.
At the Faculty of Informatics of Masaryk University, the Open Science and CERIT-SC teams will introduce data from the ground up. Visitors will discover how the form and volume of data have changed over time, how much information could fit on a floppy disk and what metadata are.
Interactive activities will also focus on the secure storage and sharing of data. There will also be a practical demonstration of artificial intelligence. Visitors will be able to see how a simple computer game can be created using just a straightforward text prompt.

Visitors will also encounter citizen science at the IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center in Ostrava. Discover how small, seemingly ordinary pieces of information from our everyday lives can tell a much bigger story. But if people are to share them and understand one another, they need to know how to record and communicate them properly.

The National Library of Technology is launching the National Repository to help research organizations and other institutions comply with the new legal requirement to open-archive scientific publications.
At the beginning of October, a new major version, CCMM 2.0.0, was released, bringing improved compatibility with DCAT-AP and updated transformation tools. The methodological guidelines are also being revised to reflect the new version of the model. More information and all related materials are available on the CCMM website.
