An introduction to effective data management planning

  • 28 November 2025
    8:30 AM – 11:30 AM
  • Na Slovance 1999/2, Prague

Annotation: The workshop introduces the concept of data management planning as an important process of managing data. The workshop also discusses data management plans (DMPs), which document the process of data management planning, and will showcase the Data Stewardship Wizard (DSW) as a useful tool for writing DMPs, which will also include practical exercises for the attendees to complete. Importantly, data management planning entails the processes and strategies for creating, handling, storing, sharing, and preserving data; therefore, data management planning is an activity which helps researchers formalize and improve the steps they are already taking in their research. In other words, proper data management planning can lead to improved research efficiency and a higher impact of research data, and a DMP is a guide that helps document this process.

Benefits for participants:

  • Understand the objectives and principles of proper data management planning.
  • Find out what information a DMP should contain.
  • Obtain hands-on experience with using Data Stewardship Wizard for writing a DMP.
