Members of the EOSC CZ Working Groups Elect Their Representatives Again After Two Years
EOSC CZ enters a new phase: this year’s working group elections reflect the shift toward practical use of the infrastructure and the development of services.
The EOSC General Assembly elected three new board members and confirmed Sara Garavelli for her second three-year term.
The newly elected members of the Board of Directors are:
Kamran Naim (CERN) - three-year term,
Roxanne Wyns (LIBIS - KU Leuven Libraries) - three-year term,
Licia Florio (NORDUnet) - one-year term.
All four directors will start their term of office on January 1, 2025.
The election occurred online during the 9th EOSC Association General Assembly on Friday, November 22. The General Assembly is held twice a year - in person in the spring and online in the fall. The EOSC Association's bylaws govern elections.
The terms of two current directors, Bob Jones and Wilhelm Widmark, will expire on December 31, 2024, as they have reached the maximum limit of two terms. Both have held their positions since 2021 - Bob Jones, a one-year term, and Wilhelm Widmark, a three-year term.
The position of Director, left vacant by the death of Sarah Jones in 2023, is now filled for the remaining one-year term.

Building and connecting expert communities is one of the core activities of the EOSC CZ initiative. Alongside the development of infrastructure and services, strong emphasis is placed on the people who use these tools in practice and help move them forward. For this reason, a series of thematic networking events was organised throughout the past year, bringing together researchers, data stewards, institutional leadership and professionals engaged in Open Science and research data management.
