Prague EOSC Networking

No description

A practically oriented day full of inspiration, sharing of good practices, and workshops focused on research data management across Prague-based institutions.

Prague has enormous scientific potential – yet we rarely all meet in one place. Prague EOSC Networking aims to change that by offering researchers a space to gain practical skills, learn what is happening at neighboring institutions, and return home with concrete tools they can start using the very next day.

Registration

Registration will open soon.
The capacity of the event is limited; early registration is recommended.

Why attend?

  • Gain practical skills useful for everyday research
  • Meet colleagues from other Prague universities
  • Learn what the national EOSC CZ infrastructure has to offer
  • Discover new tools, services, and opportunities
  • Become part of a community facing the same challenges as you

The event is held primarily in Czech, but English-speaking participants are welcome. Networking and at least one workshop will be available in English-friendly format.

Programme

Morning session (ČZU Aula)

The morning session in the CZU Aula will set the day's framework: a welcome address by university leadership, an overview of current EOSC CZ activities and plans, and short lightning talks from Prague-based institutions. This part of the programme offers space for inspiration, sharing strategic perspectives, and gaining insight into how open science and research data management resonate across the Prague academic community.

9:30–10:30 Registration & morning coffee and tea networking

Start your day at a relaxed pace. Registration opens at 9:30, and the space will be ready for informal networking with colleagues from Prague universities, event organisers, and representatives of EOSC CZ. It’s the perfect opportunity to get into the spirit of the programme and make new connections before the event officially starts.

10:30–10:50 Opening remarks by the Rector of CZU

The opening address will be delivered by Prof. Michal Lošťák, Rector of CZU, who is also a member of the EOSC CZ Working Group for Social Sciences.

11:25–12:25 Lightning talks from Prague institutions & mini Q&A panel

Short presentations from Prague-based institutions will offer quick, inspiring insights into how individual universities and the Academy of Sciences approach open science, research data management, and researcher support. The session will conclude with a short Q&A panel featuring a representative of the EOSC CZ initiative on behalf of the national infrastructure.

12:25–13:25 Networking lunch: Meet, Eat & Connect

Enjoy a shared lunch, informal networking, and the opportunity to make new connections across Prague-based institutions.

Afternoon Session – Workshops (CZU Library)

The afternoon session will feature a series of hands-on workshops at the CZU Library. The workshops focus on practical skills that researchers can apply immediately in their work – from data handling to tools and services that support open science.

13:30–14:30 Workshops: Block I
e-INFRA CZ Services in Practice: How to Work with Data Safely and Efficiently

This hands-on presentation will introduce key e-INFRA CZ and CESNET services for research data management – from basic sharing and sync-and-share solutions to disk arrays, object storage, and repositories. Using concrete scenarios, it will show which service to use when, how to set up secure workflows, share data across institutions, and avoid common mistakes. The session will also cover versioning, data integrity checks, and practical tips for effective data management.

ORCID Smartly: Set Up Your Profile to Work for You

ORCID iD is an international identifier that links a researcher to publications, data, projects, and institutions. In this practical workshop, participants will set up their ORCID profile step by step, connect it to databases and systems, and learn how to keep it up to date almost automatically. They will leave with concrete tips on how to make the most of ORCID in their daily research workflow.

DSW Live: How to Quickly and Smartly Create a High-Quality DMP

A hands-on workshop focused on the Data Stewardship Wizard (DSW) tool. Participants will create a new DMP or refine an existing one. The workshop will demonstrate key features, templates, team collaboration, and tips for producing a high-quality data management plan. Attendees will leave with a completed or significantly advanced DMP.

14:45–16:15 Workshops: Block II

Součástí budou i ukázky jednoduchých postupů a příklady z reálných výzkumů.

Postav to znovu! LEGO® Metadata Challenge

RDM Escape Room: Gamifikovaná cesta do světa výzkumných dat (v angličtině)

Hravý a týmový workshop, který formou únikové hry představí klíčové principy správy výzkumných dat. Účastníci budou řešit úkoly založené na reálných RDM situacích a objeví, jaké postupy fungují – a jakým se rozhodně vyhnout. Workshop je veden v angličtině.

Optional Networking at the CZU Campus Restaurant (from 4:30 PM)

After the workshops, we invite you to an optional informal networking session at the CZU campus restaurant. It’s the perfect opportunity to end the day over good food, make new connections, or continue conversations that didn’t quite finish during the day.
