Dear open science enthusiasts,

You are taking a peek into the March issue of the EOSC CZ newsletter, and as usual, we have up our sleeve news from the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).

The topic that remains relevant within the Czech EOSC initiative is the selection of leaders for the EOSC CZ working groups. In this issue, we introduce the candidates for the leadership positions. If you have any uncertainties about the future of research data management in the Czech Republic, you will find answers in the newly published scientific article by the EOSC CZ initiative. Accept an invitation to the upcoming webinars and check out the ongoing open calls and the new EOSC ENTRUST project. Lastly, you will find a summary out of the FAIR Data Productivity and Advanced Digitalization workshop.

Enjoy your reading!

The Team of the EOSC CZ Initiative

Who will lead the working groups of the Czech EOSC initiative?

The first election of leaders of the EOSC CZ working groups is fast approaching. In the latter half of March, members of the Czech EOSC working groups will elect their representatives for the forthcoming two-year tenure. These leaders will hold important roles in steering the Czech EOSC community and crafting data-sharing strategies for research within the nation. Ensure your voice is heard by voting between 18 and 21 March 2024.

Meet the candidates

Scientific paper about the future of research data management

A scientific paper titled "EOSC CZ: Towards the development of Czech national ecosystem for FAIR research data" has been released, tracing the Czech Republic's participation in the European Open Science Cloud initiative. Detailing the direction of the Czech branch of the initiative, the authors underscore the establishment of a National Repository Platform for storing research data, a key component of the prospective National Data Infrastructure.

The Academic Integrity webinar focuses on the fundamental concepts of academic integrity and ethics, providing useful tips on how to avoid plagiarism and predatory journals. Save the date for 12 March 2024.

The webinar Introduction to Research Data Management will take place on
27 March 2024 and will be useful for anyone dealing with scientific data who needs to learn the basics, including the creation of a Data Management Plan.

Open Call for Open Science Projects

The OSCARS project is organising a virtual open day dedicated to the challenge for open science projects, scheduled for 15 March 2024. This open call aims to significantly financially support research communities from any scientific field to prepare projects that fulfill the principles of open science and thus support the involvement of scientists in the EOSC.

Online seminar on the open call of the FAIR-IMPACT project

Are you considering applying for the open call of the FAIR-IMPACT project and want to know the details? Then this webinar is just for you. Join us on 12 March from 4 to 5 PM, where members of the FAIR-IMPACT team will be available to address any queries regarding this financial support opportunity. Stay tuned for more information.

FAIR Data Productivity and Advanced Digitalization Workshop

Why are FAIR data indispensable in research? Which EOSC services can enhance FAIR data production? How does AI impact scientific fields, and how do FAIR data help train artificial intelligence? These and other questions were discussed by representatives of European research infrastructures and members of the ESFRI-EOSC working group at the "FAIR Data Productivity and Advanced Digitalization" workshop.

Do you know EOSC ENTRUST?

The first day of March marked the start of the EOSC ENTRUST project with partners from the Czech Republic MUNI and IT4Innovations at VSB-TUO. This project will establish a European network of trusted research environments for sensitive data and drive European interoperability by joint development of a common blueprint for federated data access and analysis. To learn more about its goals and what driver projects it identified, check the project's press release or visit its website.
